A parser is a program that reads information off a website, or out of files, and turns it into tidy rows you can use. What you pay follows how many sources there are and how much they resist being read. A plain page is quick. Logins, limits on how often you may ask, and pages that only assemble themselves inside a browser each multiply the work.

One straightforward source is usually a matter of weeks. The part we will not rush is watching: we run against the source for a while to learn how it varies, including what it does on a bad day, half loaded or missing fields. Yes. What we look at first is whether it can tell when it has gone wrong. Does anything warn you when a run brings back half the usual records, or does it fail in silence? We also check what it was allowed to read. If it ignores the site's robots file or its terms of use, that gets fixed before anything else.

This is regular work for us, and what carries between jobs is never the site itself, it is the discipline around it: runs on a fixed timetable, usually through a scheduler such as Airflow, checks comparing today's haul against yesterday's, and a person told when the numbers look odd. Ask us for named examples and awkward questions are welcome.

You keep the code, the timetable that runs it, the database holding everything collected so far, usually Postgres, and a written description of the output: every field, what it means, and what it looks like when the source leaves it empty. Server access and any accounts are yours. Another team can pick it up later without talking to us.

Because we build it to notice when it has stopped making sense and say so, rather than quietly feeding plausible nonsense into your reports. Where a page only comes together inside a real browser, we drive one, using Playwright. And if the source turns out to publish an official feed, we will tell you and save you the build.
